Weekly Golf Report - 18/10/2026
An excellent field turned out for the 3rd annual Dom Cerrone Memorial Day and was blessed to be joined at presentation by Dom’s sisters Carmel and Philly.
On a perfect day for golf scoring the 4BBB Stableford event was excellent and new captain Paul Kuiper’s pre-round prediction of a 45-point winning score proved spot on with that figure being the threshold for success in both the men’s and ladies’ comps.
To the men’s comp and Pooch McHale found a good partner in the multi-talented Paul Newman who contributed 26 of their 45-point score as they secured a one-shot win from Michael and Dylan Gallivan who claimed the runner’s up trophy with 44 points.
In the ladies’ event Von Morris and Lynne Canavan teamed very well for their 45 points with Lynne notching 24 points including a six-hole hot streak from holes three through eight that yielded 14 points. They finished three points clear of runner’s up in Merryn Anderson and Trudy Denham (42 points).
Forty-two points was the threshold to win balls in the ball comp and that number was posted by Graeme Harrison and Peter Nelson, John Burrows and David Collins, and Kevin Bauerle and Peter Mangan.
Paul Newman picked up the First Tea voucher for Nearest the Pin on the 15th on his way to one of his three birdies for the day and also won the ball for nearest second shot on the 13th.
Other Nearest the Pin winners were Rory Kerr (B grade 3rd), Tracey Wade (3rd), Peter Mangan (A grade 12th), Geoff Strachan (B grade 12th) and Von Morris (second shot 9th).
A big thanks to Carmel and Philly for the much-appreciated hamper and afternoon tea enjoyed by the field prior to presentations.
Visitor Travis Kreeck dominated Tuesday’s Stableford round taking out A grade with 40 points, three points clear of Gordon the Golfer Mackay with 37 points.
Gary Jurey took out B grade with 39 points in a countback from Alan Hausler with John Canavan one shot back with 38 points heading the ball comp that also featured Graeme Harrison with 37 points, Colin Rangatunga (36), and Paul Pappin (35).
Nearest the Pin winners were Stuart Newton (A grade 3rd), Colin Ranatunga (B grade 3rd) and Alan Hausler (B grade 12th).
Laurie Radley (9th) and Daryl Harrison (13th) won the second shot balls.
This week’s event is a Stableford as our members tune up for the Club Championships in a fortnight.
