Weekly Mens & Ladies Golf Report 13/7/25

SATURDAY: This week’s golf results are dominated by one player in Mick Pell who tasted success in both Tuesday’s and Saturday’s Stableford events.

On Tuesday Mick scored a one -shot win in A grade with 37 points before bettering that mark on Saturday with an outstanding round of 42 points that will see him make further inroads into his handicap that, before the weekend was sitting at the 15 mark. If I’m not mistaken less than twelve months ago that figure was in the low to mid-twenties.

His round of Saturday gave him a comfortable three-shot win from Peter Mangan who posted a very good round of his own of 39 points, a score that would seem him as a clear winner in recent weeks.

The B graders could not match that level of scoring with Des Partington securing a win with 33 points in a count back from David Collins whose disastrous back nine of just eleven points scuttled any chance he had in the count back.

A count back was also required to find the ladies winner with Von Morris prevailing over Leanne Busch after each finished with 34 points.

To the ball comp which saw balls distributed to Steve Browne (35 points), Pooch McHale (35), Peter Blackmore (34), Wendy Cox (33) and Gordon the Golfer Mackay (33) while the results sheet does not bear the name of even one player for hitting one of the par three greens.

A new trophy for the closest second shot to the ninth green was won by Steve Brown.

TUESDAY: Back to Tuesday’s results and there was a three-way countback in A grade for runner up with Daryl Harrison getting the better of uncle Graeme and Miles Gould with 36 points.

The consistent Geoff Strachan won B grade with 35 points from Jeff Carnie with 33 points.

Balls went to Graeme Harrison, Miles Gould with their 36-point scores along with Kevin Humbert (34 points) and Mick Coyne (33).

The second shot balls on the ninth went to Kevin Humbert and Jeff Carnie.
