Weekly Golf Report 8/2/26
The month of February has ushered in another first time Monthly Medalist with Ian “Tommy” Scurrah taking out the medal with a very consistent round of 102-32-70
Ian finished one shot clear of A grade winner Gordon Mackay who had a round of 83-12-71 and is clearly in good form as he started the week by taking out B grade on Tuesday with an excellent score of 40 points.
The runner’s up on the day in Mick Pell (84-12-72) and Sean McDonell (92-20-72) finished a further shot off the pace.
Our ladies were joined by visitors from the likes of Murray Downes, Trentham, Portsea and Sorrento but it was two local veterans that took the spoils on the day.
Marlene Topp was the winner with 106-34-72 just edging out Jenni Baurle who finished with 89-16-73.
Jenni’s score won her the best gross score ball as did Brett Radley (79) and Sean McDonell (92) in the men’s grades.
Nearest the Pin Trophy winners were Kyle Kydd (A grade 3rd), Glenn Laity (A grade 12th), Laurie Radley (B grade 3rd), Trentham’s Terri O’Çallaghan (3rd) and Tracey Wade picked up yet another First Tea voucher on the 15th.
Ball winners on the day were Alan Curnow with Nett 73, Mick McAuliffe (73), John Burrows (73), David Collins (73), Kevin Humbert (73), Tracey Wade (74), Dave Gebbie (74) and Lawrie Casey (74).
Nearest 2nd shot balls went to Von Morris (9th) and Nigel Dow (13th).
On Tuesday David Collins won A grade with 36 points from (runner up) Daryl Harrison and Kevin Bauerle who both had 35 points.
As reported earlier Ian Scurrah was the B grade winner with the day’s best score of 40 points and he nudged out an unlucky Geoff Strachan who had 39 points.
Ball winners were Rochester’s Greg Watkins (36), Kevin Bauerle (35), Gary Jurey (35), Richard Stockdale (35) and Lachy Wilson (34).
Nearest the Pin ball winners were Paul Kuiper (A grade 3rd), Lachy Wilson (A grade 12th), Kayne Compton (B grade 12th) and Paul Pappin (First Tea voucher 15th).
Pooch McHale (13th) and Kayne Compton (9th) won the balls for nearest second shots.
Our Summer Pennant team closed out it’s 2026 campaign with a 3&2 win against Kialla-Cosgrove at Nagambie on Sunday.
In a topsy turvy mixture of results Paul Dickens and Miles Gould (4&3), Larie and Brett Radley (1 up) and Mick Gallivan and Paul Kuiper (also 1 up) were winners while David Collins and Gordon Mackay were finished early going down 6&5, ditto Lawrie Casey and Peter Blackmore (7&6).
While the team finished the season with two good wins it was not enough to qualify for the finals after a couple of early losses.
A big thanks to Captain David Collins and the dozen or so players that made themselves available to represent the club over the past few weeks.
This Saturday’s event is the final round of the Summer Cup which is poised for a tight finish with a recap of the top five leaders after the January round being as follows:
Brett Radley (114), Lawrie Casey (113) Laurie Radley (108), Pooch McHale (107) and Mick Gallivan (107).
