Weekly Golf Report - 7/12/25

A trip to Royal Melbourne to watch the Australian Open on Friday has inspired Paul Kuiper to a round of 82-14-68 as he took out A grade and the final Monthly Medal shirt of 2025 on Saturday.

Paul’s round was double bogey free and so consistent he had 41 on both nines with four pars and five bogeys on each as well.

That was Paul’s second Medal win of the year and, by my reckoning his ninth overall in 11 years. (No doubt if I’m wrong Mr Modesty will set the record straight).

Four players, Mick McAuliffe, Peter Blackmore, Peter Sherman and Shaun Bassett finished three shots back with Net scores of 71.

Mick finished as the A grade runner up with 79-8-71 in a countback from Peter Blackmore who had a round of 87-16-71.

Pete Sherman’s round of 97-26-71 got him across the line in B grade in a countback with Shaun who had 92-21-71.

Mick and Shaun’s scores won them the best gross score balls on the day (Mick overall and Shaun in B Grade).

Nett 71 was the magic number in the ladies’ comp as well with Wanda Hacon the winner with 96-25-71.

Nat McAuliffe was the runner up with 102-28-74 in a countback from Merryn Anderson with 119-45-74.

A countback for best gross score could not separate Wanda Hacon and Helen Emery so they both won a ball for their pair of 96’s.

Peter Blackmore led the list of ball comp winners with Nett 71 that also included Paul Dickens (72), Kevin Humbert (73), Laurie Radley (73), Merryn Anderson (74), Brett Radley (74), Peter Mangan (74) and Glen Laity (74).

Nearest the Pin winners were Paul Kuiper (A grade 3rd), Rich River’s Ben Knight (A grade 12th), Alan Hausler (B grade 3rd) and Sharon Harrison (15th).

Laurie Radley (9th) and Ben Knight (13th) won the best second shot balls.

Tuesday’s winners were Gordon Mackay in A grade with 34 points (in a countback from Travis Kreeck) and Lockington’s Stuart Newton in B Grade with 39 points from Peter Blackmore (before his promotion back to A grade) with 38 points.

Ron Dixon (37 points), Laurie Radley (36), John Burrows (35), Bamawm’s Kieran McAsey (35) and Richard Caiofa won ball comp balls.

Daryl Harrison (A grade 12th), Peter Blackmore (B grade 3rd) and Bud Thorsen (B grade 12th) won NTP Balls.

Congratulations to Mick Gallivan who on Monday was crowned the GV Vets Golfer of the Year while Ron Dixon won the B Grade title.

Next Saturday Summer Cup Stableford round is the also the annual Ky Vet Clinic Black Sock Day so dust off your black socks.
