Weekly Golf Report 14/12/25
Brett Radley’s rich vein of form continued on Saturday in the Ky Vet Clinic Black Sock Day firing a superb one over 73 on his way to 41 Stableford points and claiming the Ky Vet Clinic winner’s ham in a countback from Dylan Gallivan.
Playing off a handicap of six, Brett posted a front nine of one under 35 off the stick before a back nine of 38. Only two bogeys on the par three 12th and 15th holes prevented him from registering a sub-par score.
Meanwhile a very unlucky Dylan, who plays off eight, put together an equally impressive round of 75 off the stick for his 41 points. His only two one-point blemishes coming on the par five 8th and 18th holes and he too had a one under 35 front nine.
It was a similar story in B grade with Alan Curnow and Brett’s dad Laurie both finishing with 39 points before Alan’s back nine of 19 points got him across the line in the countback with Laurie having a 22-17-point split.
The high scoring continued in the ladies’ comp, Helen Emery scoring 39 points to take out a one shot win from Helen Amstrong with 38 points.
The other highlight of the day was Kyle Kydd’s Eagles Nest three on the par five fifth hole.
Black Sock ball comp winners were Lawrey Casey with 39 points, Mick Gallivan (38), Kevin Humbert (38), John Neale (37), Sharon Harrison (37), Jan McHale (37) and Bev Lyon (36).
Nearest the Pin winners were Brett Radley (A grade 3rd), Gordon Mackay (A grade 12th), Jeff Carnie (B grade 3rd), Paul Dickens (B grade 12th), Jenni Bauerle (12th) and Ash Kuiper (15th).
A big thanks to Mick McAuliffe and Ky Vet Clinic for their generous support of Saturday’s round which was also the second round of the Summer Cup (update to come). Mick’s black sock theme day is always a popular event on our calendar and this was evident on Saturday with the largest field for some time turning out.
The highlight of Tuesday’s comp was Nathan Kuiper notching up his first ever comp victory taking out B grade with 37 points in a countback from Laurie Radley.
Jeff Carnie finished two shots back with 35 points and picked up a ball in the ball comp.
Daryl Harrison was the A grade winner with 35 points while John McHale took out the runner’s up trophy with 34 points in a four-way countback from Graeme Harrison, Peter Blackmore and Gordon Mackay who all had to settle with ball comp balls for their efforts.
Nearest the Pin winners on the day were Daryl Harrison (A grade – 3rd) and Paul Kuiper (15th) while Geoff Strachan (9th) and Peter Mangan (13th) took out the best second shot balls.
