Weekly Golf Report - 3/5/26

A round of three over par 75 saw Daryl Harrison claim his fourth Valley View Monthly Medal round on Saturday.

Playing off a handicap of six Daryl’s Nett score of 69 saw him finish two shots clear of B grade winner Steve Hammond (88-17-71).

The A and B Grade runners up in Brett Radley (77-5-72) and Jack Hammond (89-17-72) respectively, finished a further shot back in the race for the medal shirt.

The highlights of Daryl’s round were an eagle three on the par five 8th and birdie four on the longest hole on the course, the par five 14th.

The eagle came with a driver from the tee, driver again with his second shot before chipping in from the fringe of the green.

Only a double bogey five on the ninth halted his charge to a sub-par front nine as he finished the day with a 37-38 front nine-back nine split.

Helen Armstrong took out the ladies’ event with 102-26-76 from Tracey Wade with 95-17-78.

Ball comp winners were David Collins with Nett 73, Peter Mangan (73), Dorset’s Ian Brown (73), Rushworth’s Ian Rathjen (73) and Glenn Laity (74).

Daryl Harrison (75), Steve Hammond (88) and Tracey Wade (95) won the best gross score balls.

Nearest the Pin trophy winners were Mick McAuliffe (A grade 3rd), Shane Bywaters (A grade 12th), Paul Dickens (B grade 12th), Jo Hammond (3rd) and Ash Kuiper (First Tea voucher 15th).

Gordon Mackay (13th) and Ian Rathjen (9th) won the best second shot balls.

On Tuesday Albert Adams won his first event since rejoining the club, taking out B grade with 41 points from John Neale with 38.

In A grade Mick Gallivan won with 38 points in a count back from Kevin Bauerle.

Tom Scurrah (36 points), Mick Pell (36), Steve Hammond (34), Graeme Harrison (34) and Geoff Strachan were ball comp winners.

Mick Pell (13th) and Ron Dixon (9th) won the second shot balls and Tom Scurrah won the B grade NTP on the 3rd.

David Collins had a good day on the Par 3 holes taking out the First Tea voucher on the 15th and a dozen jackpot balls subject to M&H (Valley View’s version of the ARC) confirmation as he went perilously close to holing out on the 3rd before tapping in for an easy birdie.

This week’s event is the Wally Shaw 4 Ball Aggregate Honour Board event so a good playing partner is a must.
