Weekly Golf Report 29/3/26

Our members and a large contingent of visitors, including an influx of Hammond family members from Peterborough, contested a rare Par event on Saturday.

Suffice to say that the lack of practise at this format once reflected in the scores with only two players recording numbers with a plus sign in front of them.

Those players were Stephen Piggot who took out A grade with the day’s best score of +3 and Von Morris who won the ladies’ comp with 1 up.

Wil Harrison, Mick McAuliffe and Jeff “Cobba” Carnie all finished square with the card, which saw “Cobba” taking out B grade and Wil getting the better of Mick in the count back for runner up in A grade.

Gavon Armstrong (B grade) and Jo Hammond, in a countback from Trudy Denham, were the other runner’s up on the day with scores of -1.

The aforementioned Mick McAuliffe and Trudy Denham led the ball comp winners which also featured Brett Radley, Nigel Dow, Daryl Harrison, Gary Cleary, Steve Hammond, Geoff Strachan, Merryn Anderson and Jenni Bauerle, all with 2 down.

Nearest the Pin trophies were won by Gary Cleary (A grade 3rd), Brett Radley (A grade 12th), Parkland’s Sean Gay (B grade 3rd), Steve Hammond (B grade 12th) and Gary Cleary (First Tea Voucher 15th).

Corey Browne (9th) and Daryl Harrison (13th) picked up the best second shot balls. For Harro that was the second time he had won that trophy for the week.

On Tuesday Kelly Cheong turned in the best round of the day winning A grade with 37 points while a host of players handed in cards with 35 points on them. They included A grade runner up Paul Kuiper, (in a countback from Graeme Harrison) and Bud Thorsen who won B grade in three-way countback from runner up Gavon Armstong and Steve Piggot.

Ball winners were Graeme Harrison and Steve Piggot (both with 35 points) along with Daryl Harrison, Gordon Mackay and Kevin Bauerle, all with 34 points.

Nearest the Pin winners were Mick McAuliffe (A grade 12th), Peter Blackmore (A grade 12th), Paul Pappin (B grade 3rd), Steve Piggot (B grade 12th) and Paul Kuiper (First Tea voucher on 15th).

Paul Pappin (9th) and Daryl Harrison (13th) won nearest second shot balls.
