Weekly Golf Report 27/7/25
SATURDAY: With the wet wintry weather affecting our events this week this week’s report is brief to say the least. At best a mini report or a reportette.
Tuesday’s golf was washed out altogether and on Saturday only a hardy group of golfers, fooled by the seemingly clear radar, turned out for the scheduled Stableford event and a couple of those took the option to cut their rounds short when the rain inevitably arrived.
As it was, it was tough going for those that did complete the course with David Collins finishing at the front of the field with 31 points and Kelly Cheong next best with 28 points.
Given the size of the field there was no ball comp and no Nearest the Pin trophies were claimed either.
With little to report on the golfing front I had hoped to fill in some space with interest pieces on some of our more interesting characters from around the club.
Unfortunately, these interviews failed to materialise with the intended subjects (Paul Kuiper – another RDO), Mick McAuliffe (parliament) Peter Noble (watching LIV golf) and Graeme Harrison (watching a replay of Scottie’s Scheffler’s Open win) all unavailable for a variety of reasons.
Our Isaac 4 Ball Champions in Steve Usher and Paul Dickens WERE available but frankly are not interesting enough to bother interviewing.

Ladies Golf Report:
Our newest star is Wendy Cox who won C Grade division at Cobram Barooga last week. Despite unpleasantly wet and windy conditions on the second day, Wendy carded 31 points on both days in an impressively consistent effort.
Marlene Topp's 31 points on Wednesday were enough to see her slide into the winner's circle in our one grade only event. Close behind were Tracey Wade, Judy Sutton and Von Morris, all on 30 points, with Tracey getting the nod in the count back.
