Weekly Golf Report 21/12/25

The final Par round of 2025 brought out another good field which produced some good scores and a series of one-shot margins.

In A grade, a seven-hole stretch from Graeme Harrison that included 6 pars set up a front nine of 4 up and an eventual score of 2 up as he recorded a one shot win from Steve Usher who was the best of the morning golfers with a score of +1.

It was a one-shot margin in B grade also with Steve Hammond putting together the day’s best score of +3 to hold out Corey Browne who finished with +2.

It would have been a Happy Hammond home on Saturday night with Jo Hammond winning the ladies’ comp with +1 from Helen Armstrong who finished with an even par score.

Ball winners were Peter Sherman with +1, Daryl Harrison (+1), along with a series of even scores that belonged to Lawrie Casey, Jeff Carnie, Kevin Bauerle and Nigel Dow.

Nearest the Pin trophies went the way of Rochester’s Andrew Purdey (A grade 3rd), Alex Kydd (A grade 12th), Steve Hammond (B grade 3rd), Laurie Radley (B grade 12th) and another Rochester visitor in Shane Bywaters who won the voucher on the 15th.

Tracey Wade (9th) and Daryl Harrison (13th) won the nearest second shot balls with Harro completing his short putt for birdie.

On Tuesday Mick Coyne put together an excellent score of 39 points (from a handicap of 11) and he finished three shots clear in A grade of Kevin Bauerle who finished with the runner’s up trophy in countback from David Collins with 36 points.

The consistent Laurie Radley was the B grade winner with 37 points from Kerry Kreeck with 36 points.

Ball comp winners were David Collins (36 points), Graeme Harrison (34), Ron Dixon (34), Kevin Humbert (34), Mick Gallivan (34) and Bud Thorsen (34).

Nearest the Pin trophy winners were Peter Mangan (A grade 3rd), Nagambie’s Michael Roberts (A grade 12th) Peter Sherman (15th), Tom Scurrah (2nd shot 9th) and Mick Pell (2nd shot 13th).

Next Saturday’s event will be Stableford and for those who do not over indulge there will be Stableford “Book” events on Boxing Day and New Years Day. The January Monthly Medal round will be played on Saturday January 3.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the club to wish all our members and Ky Free Press readers the safest and Merriest of Christmas’ and the happiest of New Years.

Ladies Wednesday Golf

With the temperature rising higher than 36 degrees the heat rule restricted play to 9 holes for Valley View women last Wednesday. A small field competed in the Stableford round.

It has to be said that when Marie Watt has a great day she is unstoppable. Her 25 points was easily the best score, 4 points ahead of Judy Greer whose 21 points was just ahead of 3 players on 20 points. Tracey Wade was nearest the pin.
