Weekly Golf Report - 1/8/26
An in- form Lawrie Casey has followed up last week’s Stableford win with an even more impressive performance to take out the August Monthly Medal with a round of 83-13-70 at the weekend.
Unfortunately, the 2025 Medallist of Medallists winner failed to show for his Sunday morning press conference so I have no details on the highlights of his round. All I can say is that having won two Monthly Medals in 2025 he should be familiar with his media responsibilities.
Matt Jean finished two shots behind Lawrie in the medal race taking out the A grade runner’s up trophy with a round of 77-4-73, his score being the best gross score for the day.
The best Nett score for the day came from a visitor in Nagambie’s Shaun Finnigan posting the outrageous score of 96-31-65 as he cruised to a ten-shot win in B grade with Alan Curnow his closest challenger with 97-22-75.
There was a big margin in the ladies’ event also with Jenni Bauerle the winner with 93-19-74 from Jan McHale with 106-23-83. Jenni also took out the best gross score ball for the ladies.
Peter Blackmore took out the B grade best gross score ball with 95 off the stick while ball comp winners were Pooch McHale with Nett 75, Gary Cleary (76), Shane Bywaters (76), Graeme Harrison (76) and Kyle Kydd (77).
Nearest the Pin trophy winners were Lawrie Casey (A grade 3rd), Matt Jean (A grade 12th), and Rod Breen (First Tea Voucher 15th) while Shaun Finnigan (9th) and Brett Radley (13th) took out the best second shot balls.
To Tuesday’s golf and Nathan Richards took out A grade in a countback from Peter Mangan with 34 points.
Colin Rangitonga had the best score of the day taking the honours in B grade with 37 points by two shots from Geoff Strachan with 35.
Kevin Bauerle led the hunt in the ball comp with 34 points and other ball winners were Frank Broucek with 32 points, Paul Kuiper (32) and Jeff Carnie (31).
Shane Bywaters (A grade) and Paul Pappin (B) won Nearest the Pin balls on the 3rd and Kelly Cheong the voucher on the 15th. Kellie also won the nearest second shot ball on the 13th and Colin Rangitonga the best second shot ball on the 9th.

Valley View Women’s Golf report
A stableford round was played by the ladies last Wednesday at Valley View.
It was a resounding win by Parkland visitor Ellie Wright, who won the day with 37 points, and continues to reduce her handicap. There may be some hereditary influence at play, Ellie being the granddaughter of the ladies captain, Helen Emery. Jenni Bauerle was runner up with 31 points.
Alas, both of the nearest the pin prizes went unclaimed this week.
