Weekly Golf Report - 16/8/26

Another Saturday, another Stableford event at the weekend with the Valley View track in good shape after soaking up another 50mm of rain earlier in the week that saw the course closed for three days.

Never the less, scoring was again on the modest side though Miles Gould made a return to the winner’s list in A grade with a round of 36 points as he finished two shots clear of runner up Rod Breen with 34 points.

It may not have been Miles’ best round with eight pars on his card and a birdie on the par sixth but he will take the win after missing a fair bit of golf recently.

Ian Brown also met the handicapper halfway with a round of 36 points and finished four shots clear in B grade with Paul Pappin the runner up with 32 points.

The feature of Ian’s round was his consistency with four pars and nine bogeys as he finished with a score on every hole.

A countback was required to separate Judy Greer and Gill Thorsen, both with 30 points, in the ladies’ comp with Judy emerging as the victor.

Ball winners on the day were Kyle Kydd with 32 points, Geoff Strachan (32) and Brendon Cornwall (31).

The club came out well in front on the Par 3 holes with the only NTP trophy winner being Rod Breen who won the First Tea voucher on the 15th while Laurie Radley won the second shot ball on the ninth.

As mentioned earlier the course was closed for the first half of the week so there was no golf on Tuesday.

I’m pretty sure next Saturday’s event will be (surprise, surprise) Stableford and a reminder the following week is the annual Cooper Buckell 4BBB.
