Weekly Golf Report 16/11/25
The 2025 Valley View Club Champion race looks to be a race in one after Brett Radley extended his lead to seven shots in Saturday’s second round.
Radley, who has built an impressively consistent body of work since joining the club, followed up his first round 79 with 78 off the stick for a two-round aggregate of 157.
Daryl Harrison who shot 78 in round two and Ash Kuiper (79) are both seven shots back on 164. Dylan Gallivan also has a two-round score of 164 but is unavailable to play the final round next weekend.
Last week’s Monthly Medal winner in Lawrie Casey posted a round of 88 for a gross aggregate of 169 though he shares the lead with Radley in the A Grade handicap event with a Nett aggregate score of 146. Graeme Harrison is on Nett 147 and Glenn Laity is on Nett 149.
In B Grade Alan Curnow and Rob Geisler both made a move posting Nett scores of 71. Geisler leads the B grade field with the two round Nett score 146. Curnow is three shots back on 149 while Davin Collins, John Burrows and Peter Blackmore are a further shot back with aggregate scores of 150.
Round 1 lead Geoff Strachan had a Nett score of 78 on Saturday but at 151 is still only five shots from the leader and very much in contention.
To Saturday’s comp results and Glenn Laity took out A grade with an excellent round of 81-12-69 and he finished two shots clear of Dylan Gallivan (79-8-71), Paul Kuiper (87-16-71) and Daryl Harrison (78-7-71) with the countback for runner up going Dylan’s way.
Alan Curnow won B Grade with 95-24-71 in a countback from Rob Geisler (90-19-71) though it wasn’t all bad news for Rob as he won the Kyabram Showcase Jewellers Gold Watch for the overall best two round Nett score. He won the watch in a countback from Brett Radley and Lawrie Casey.
A couple of excellent scores stole the headlines in the ladies’ event with Merryn Anderson posting a round of 115-49-66 to finish three shots clear of a very unlucky Janice Johnstone who carded a round of 94-25-69.
Ball comp winners on the day were Marie Watt with Nett 70, Trudy Denham (70), Paul Kuiper (71), Daryl Harrison (71), John Burrows (72), Wendy Cox (73), Lynne Canavan (73), Ash Kuiper (73) and David Collins (73).
Nearest the Pin trophy winners were Daryl Harrison (3rd), Marlene Topp (3rd) and Wendy Cox (15th).
Qualifiers for the Greenham Match Play championships are: A Grade Brett Radley to play Dylan Gallivan and Graeme Harrison to play Lawrie Casey. B Grade: Rob Geisler to play John Burrows and Alan Curnow to play David Collins.
So just to recap the state of play going into round 3, the final grouping for the Club Championship on Saturday will Brett Radley (157), Daryl Harrison (164), Ash Kuiper (164) and Lawrie Casey (169).
The B grade group will consist of Rob Geisler (Nett 146), Alan Curnow (149), David Collins (150) and John Burrows (150).
For the rest of the field assembly will be at 1130am for a midday shot gun start.

LADIES GOLF REPORT
Presentation Day Daily events which had been postponed due to poor weather were contested last Wednesday. Sponsored by Club members, a variety of competitions were enjoyed.
A Grade Scratch winner with 95 off the stick, was Wendy Cox who also claimed the trophy for the straightest drive on the second. Wanda Hacon, with 101 off the stick, won the B Grade Scratch and also claimed the best second shot on the 13th.
Tracey Wade claimed 3 trophies by winning the A Grade Nett with 79 Nett, nearest the pin and the second shot on the 6th.
Marie Watt was the winner of the B Grade Nett with 74.
Runner up in the A Grade Nett was Helen Emery with 81 Nett, while Julie Neale was the B Grade runner up with 75 Nett and she also won the least putts competition with 28.
Janice Johnstone won B Grade nearest the pin and also had longest drive on the 11th in B Grade. Von Morris won the longest drive in A Grade.
The lucky card drawn for The Mystery trophy, belonged to Merryn Anderson.
Coming events include, President’s Day on November 26th and Christmas lunch on December 3rd.
