Weekly Golf Report - 30/8/26

An excellent field, that included a large number of visitors from various clubs, turned out for Saturday’s Cooper-Buckell 4BBB Stableford event producing a wide range of scores along the way.

Easily the best score of the day came from Colin Rangitonga and Ian Brown combining for the first time in a 4 Ball to finish with 44 points and a comfortable four-shot win in the men’s event.

Further back on 40 points Kyle Kydd and Shaun Bassett secured the runner’s up trophy in a three-way countback from the pairings of Gordon Mackay and Geoff Strachan and Mick Gallivan and Paul Kuiper.

The unlucky groups from the countback picked up balls in the ball comp along with Miles Gould and Mick Coyne, Daryl and Wil Harrison and Pooch McHale and Nigel Dow all with 39 points

A countback was also needed to find the ladies’ winners with Jenny Bauerle and Jan McHale getting the better of Helen Emery and Von Morris with both groups posting 41 points.

Wanda Hacon and Trudy Denham were the next best combination with 38 points winning a ball in the ball comp.

To the Par 3 holes and Nearest the Pin trophies were won by Pooch McHale (A grade), Paul Pappin (B) and Jenni Bauerle on the 3rd with Miles Gould (A grade) and Sean McDonell (B) picking up the trophies on the 12th. Thomas Pyke won the First Tea Voucher on the 15th.

Second shot balls went to Alan Hausler (9th) and Daryl Harrison (13th).

My records show (and I stand to be corrected) that this event has been running since 2012 which, if correct, would have made Saturday’s event the 15th edition. That is a big commitment to the club from Phil and John and their amazing support is greatly appreciated as this event grows bigger and better each year.

There was no golf on Tuesday after rain on Monday once again forced the course to be closed.

Next week’s event is the September Monthly Medal round.
