Ladies Menzies Bowl Event 27/6/25

Unpleasant weather on Wednesday saw Valley View women decide to forgo their Wednesday golf in anticipation of better weather forecast for Friday’s Menzies Bowl.

Come Friday morning it was wonderful to see the sun shining and that there was no wind. In fact the weather was near perfect for the day when 50 players from clubs across the Murray Goulburn contested in teams of four, with the best three scores counting, for the Menzies Bowl in its 48th year.

With three teams from Shepparton Golf Club competing on the day, it was the team of Di Wood, Sue Lowe, Gillian Anderson and Ros Wright, with 97 points, who won the day.

 Individual winners on the day included Heather Gunstone (Rich River/Parkland) off a handicap of 17 with 32 points on a count back in A Grade. Valley View’s Bev Lyon won B Grade with 34 points off a handicap of 25. The C Grade winner was Leesa Barnes from Nathalia, off a handicap of 30 with 32 points.

Heather Phillips from Shepparton won the A Grade nearest the pin. As no one in B or C grade was on the green, cards were drawn for those trophies.

Finally, Bev Lyon completed her successful day by winning the Veterans event on a count back from Ros Wright of Shepparton.
