Weekly Golf Report 20/9/26

Gary Cleary’s return to golf at Valley View continues to gain medal with the multi time Club Champion claiming two wins in one week.

He began the week on Tuesday with 39 points as he took out A grade and knocked a shot off his generous nine handicap in the process.

He followed that up on Saturday with a round of 76 off the stick and a Par score of +4 as he posted a comfortable three shot win from Wil Harrison who finished the day 1 up. Along the way Gary also won the A grade Nearest the Pin balls on the 3rd and 12th holes.

Gary did his best work on the back nine with 4 up on that side of the course.

Things were a bit tighter in B grade with Frank Broucek securing a one-shot win with the score of +2 from Ian Brown with +1.

Gill Thorsen took out the ladies’ comp with +1 and had two shots to spare from runner up Jenni Bauerle who finished her round with -1.

Ball comp winners were Peter Mangan with square, Kevin Bauerle (square), Paul Dickens (-1), Gordon Mackay (-1), David Collins (-1), Craig Larcombe (-2), Graeme Harrison (-2) and Sharon Harrison (-2).

Other ball winners were Peter Blackmore (B grade NTP 3rd), Jenni Bauerle (NTP 12th) Ian Brown (second shot 9th) and Lawrie Casey (second shot 13tH).

The First Tea voucher on the 15th was won by Alan Hausler who I can only speculate most likely skinnied his 3 wood along the ground up to the green as it fortuitously came to a halt some five feet from the pin edging out a classic tee shot already played to the green to claim the voucher.

Back to Tuesday and Peter Mangan was the A grade runner up while Laurie Radley matched Gary Cleary’s 39 points as the best score of the day to claim the honours in B grade with John Canavan taking out the runner’s up trophy with 38 points from Mick Gallivan via a countback.

Ball comp winners were Mick Gallivan (38 points), Gavon Armstrong (37), Lawrie Casey (36), Kevin Bauerle (36) and Matt Jean (35).

Mick Gallivan won the B grade Nearest the Pin ball on the 12th, the only NTP ball claimed, while John Canavan (9th) and Shane Bywaters (13th) won the second shot balls.

Don’t forget the main event this week is the 4BBB Stableford on Friday (assembly 1130am) while with the AFL Grand Final, Saturday is a Book Event with the office closed so you will need to arrange your own groups and place your payment in an envelope and slide through the slot at the window. The results will be collated by the M&H team on Sunday
