Mens & Ladies Weekly Golf Reports 15/6/25

SATURDAY: The recent wintry conditions and subsequent lack of run on the course has really taken its toll on scoring in recent weeks with just one player bettering his handicap at the weekend.

That player was John Burrows who took out B grade with 37 points from Paul Dickens who had the second-best round of the day claiming the runner’s up trophy with 35 points.

Paul Kuiper headed the A grade field with 33 points taking a one-shot victory from newly signed member in Alex Kydd who put together 32 points and fended off Mick Gallivan in a count back for the runner’s up trophy.

The highlight of Paul’s round was his tee shot to within four feet of the cup on the 3rd, narrowly missing out on a dozen jackpot balls, but sinking his putt for birdie.

The ladies found the going really tough with Helen Emery getting the better of Judy Greer in a countback with 30 points.

Ball comp winners on the day were Alan Hausler with 33 points, Corey Browne (33), Mick Gallivan (32) and Daryl Harrison took the final ball with 30 points in an eight-way countback.

In addition to the previously mentioned Paul Kuiper, Nearest the Pin trophy winners were Daryl Harrison (A grade12th), Tony Williams (B grade 3rd) and Wil Harrison who took the voucher on the 15th with a very good tee shot but couldn’t quite get the job done with the putter.

TUESDAY: The one really good score for the week came from Mick Gallivan on Tuesday as he recorded a comfortable win in A Grade with 40 points. Glenn Laity was runner up some distance back with 33 points.

Lindsay Tatterson would have been well pleased to take out B grade with 33 points by one shot from Geoff Strachan with 32 points.

Ball winners were Daryl Harrison (32 points), Pooch McHale (32), John Burrows (29) and Peter Blackmore (29).

Glenn Laity (3rd) and Mick Gallivan (12th) were the A grade Nearest the Pin winners and Daryl Harrison won the voucher on the 15th.

LADIES WEDNESDAY GOLF:

Fog and very chilly weather greeted the small contingent of Valley View women who hit off in the PAR round last Wednesday.

With only one grade for the day, it was the low markers who had the best scores, although they were below par. Jenni Bauerle with 3 down, was the winner one shot ahead of Leanne Busch with 4 down. Bauerle also picked up the nearest the pin.

It was definitely a tough day at the office.

Friday 27th June is our new date for our Menzies Bowl which was postponed in March. We look forward to welcoming golfers from across the GMGA for the 58th edition of our Club’s Bowl.
