GOLF - Weekly report 11/2/24

SATURDAY: A final round of 34 points on Saturday was good enough for Lawrie Casey to take out the 2023-24 Summer Cup with a three-round aggregate of 109 points, one better than Jeff Carnie who finished the four-round series with a round of 32 for an aggregate of 108 points.

Kelly Cheong made a late charge with a final round of 37 points to finish with 107 points as did Gordon Mackay.

To Saturday’s results and John Neale and Linsday Tatterson put together the best rounds of the day of 39 points with John taking out the B grade winner’s trophy in the countback.

An unlucky Barry Scott was a further shot back with 38 points as he made a welcome return to the club.

In A grade Miles Gould put together a solid round of 37 points and took out a three-way countback from (runner-up) Kevin Humbert and Kelly Cheong who also had rounds of 37 points.

There was a log jam at the top of the ladies’ scoreboard also with Marlene Topp the winner with a score of 36 points while Shirley Soares with 35 points won another three-way countback for the runner up trophy from Janice Johnston and Marie Watt.

To the ball comp where Jonty Sefton (38 points), Barry Scott (38), Kelly Cheong (37), Peter Blackmore (36), Janice Johnstone (35), Marie Watt (35) and Gordon Mackay (35) all took home shiny new golf balls.

Nearest the Pin winners were Gordon Mackay (A grade 3rd), Laurie Radley (A grade 12th), Von Morris (3rd) and Bill Fry (15th).

Bill also emptied the Eagles Nest with an eagle three on the par five eighth hole although I’m not sure how many balls he actually took home after his playing partners nabbed a decent share of his bounty!

Tuesday’s results were as follows:

A Grade

Winner: Daryl Harrison 38 points

Runner Up: Mick MacAuliffe (37)

Nearest the Pin: Peter Mangan

 B Grade:

Winner: Peter Sherman (38)

Runner Up: Les Hall (34)

Ball comp: Kelly Cheong (36), Alan Hausler (35), Lawrie Casey (33), Kevin Humbert (33)

Voucher 15tH: Kevin Humbert

WEDNESDAY LADIES: Clare Kerr had the stand out score in our Stableford round at Valley View last Wednesday. Clare's excellent score of 40 points made her the winner in B Grade from Von Morris who was runner up with 34 points. It was tight at the top in A Grade with 3 players scoring 34 points. Helen Emery won the count back from runner up Jan McHale. Tracey Wade was the unlucky loser in the count back.
